I had 3 visits in total that were a mixture of hypnotherapy and EMDR for fear of heights and bridges. I had won a trip to do the Kokoda trail and even though I had been sceptical of this type of therapy, without really knowing much about it, I am truly amazed at the difference it has made. I could not have completed this challenge without the help I received from Adam Dear at Bloom Hypnotherapy! He was amazing, professional and understanding of my fears. I felt comfortable with him and can definitely recommend him.

I had a wonderful experience with Bloom Hypnotherapy and Counselling. From the first session, I felt welcomed and truly listened to. Adam was incredibly compassionate and created a safe, non-judgmental space where I could open up. The combination of hypnotherapy and traditional counselling was especially effective for me—I noticed real shifts in my mindset and emotional well-being after just a few sessions.

What stood out most was how tailored everything felt. The sessions were never rushed, and I always left feeling more grounded, hopeful, and understood. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, past trauma, or just looking for personal growth, I can't recommend Adam highly enough.

    FAQs about Hypnotherapy and Counselling

Hypnotherapy is a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration which is achieved by using spoken prompts, repetition, and visualisation. Only a skilled and certified hypnotist or hypnotherapist can do this.

Hypnotherapy guides individuals into a state of deep relaxation and heightened focus, known as a trance state, where they are more receptive to suggestions. In this state, the hypnotherapist can help people access and explore subconscious thoughts, beliefs, and memories, facilitating positive changes in behaviour, emotions, and well-being.

If you are highly motivated to overcome an emotional or mental issue, habit, or concern, you will most likely benefit from hypnotherapy. If at any time we don’t think hypnosis is right for you, we will discuss other counselling options like psychotherapy.

No, hypnotherapy is not dangerous. It is a safe procedure when done by a trained hypnotherapist. Unlike common belief, it isn’t mind control or brainwashing.

Hypnotherapy can help with a range of psychological, emotional, and sensory-related concerns such as anxiety, trauma, addiction, sexual dysfunction, fears and phobias, and unhealthy habits or thought patterns.

Hypnotherapy in Australia usually costs between $180 and $260 per session. At Bloom, we believe in accessible and affordable mental health and well-being support, so all of our hypnotherapy sessions cost $180 per 1 hour session. If you have financial difficulty but want to access our services, please contact us directly.

Counselling sessions are $104.50 per session.

This is often less than the out-of-pocket cost of seeing a psychologist, even with a Medicare rebate. Many clients choose counselling as a more accessible, affordable option while still receiving professional, high-quality support.

There are no referrals or mental health care plans required—you can book directly and get started right away.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not coping as well as you’d like, speaking with a therapist or counsellor can help. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people seek support for stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, or personal growth.

A counsellor provides a safe, supportive space to talk through what’s going on, gain clarity, and learn practical strategies to feel better and move forward.

Choosing the right counsellor is important. You want someone who is not only experienced, but also a good fit for you.

Here are a few things to look for:

    • Professional registration: Ensure your counsellor is registered with a recognised body such as Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia or the Australian Counselling Association. This means they meet training, ethical, and professional standards.

    • Relevant experience: Look for someone who has experience with the specific issues you want help with (e.g., anxiety, trauma, stress).

    • Approach and style: Different counsellors use different methods, find one that feels right for you.

    • Comfort and connection: Feeling safe, understood, and comfortable is one of the most important factors in getting results.

It’s okay to ask questions before booking, finding the right fit can make all the difference.

Counselling and hypnotherapy can support you through a wide range of challenges, especially if you’re dealing with trauma, PTSD, or anxiety.

If you’ve experienced something distressing, whether recent or from the past, it can continue to affect how you think, feel, and respond to everyday situations.

Counselling provides a safe, structured space to talk things through, while hypnotherapy works at a deeper level to help shift underlying patterns and responses.

    Together, they can help with:

    • Trauma & PTSD – process past experiences, reduce triggers, and feel safer in your day-to-day life

    • Anxiety & stress – calm the mind, reduce overthinking, and manage panic or constant worry

    • Emotional overwhelm – feel more grounded, in control, and resilient

    • Behaviour patterns – change automatic responses and unhelpful habits

They can also support addictive or coping behaviours, such as smoking or drinking, especially when these are linked to stress, anxiety, or past experiences.

The focus isn’t just on talking, it’s about creating real, lasting change so you can feel better and move forward.
