The short answer: online counselling is a private video session with a qualified counsellor, from wherever you feel comfortable. Bloom offers online counselling to anyone in Australia, with the same approaches used in person, and no referral is needed.
Counselling From Home, Anywhere in Australia
Online counselling suits people who live too far away to come in, have a busy schedule, are caring for kids or family, or simply feel more at ease talking from their own space. You get the same confidential, one-to-one support as an in-person session, without the drive.
What Online Counselling Can Help With
- Anxiety, stress and overthinking
- Trauma and difficult past experiences
- Low mood and feeling stuck
- Grief and loss
- Relationship and couples issues
- Men’s counselling, including stress, anger and identity
- Habits and addictions
Sessions can draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy and narrative therapy. Online hypnotherapy and EMDR can also be done online if they suit you.
How Online Sessions Work
- Book: choose a time online or get in touch for a quick chat first.
- Get set up: you’ll be sent the details for joining your video session.
- Your session: find a quiet, private space with a reliable internet connection, and headphones if others are nearby.
- Next steps: we agree on a plan together and review how things are going as we go.
Is Online Counselling Right for You?
Online counselling works well for many people. It isn’t a crisis service, though. If you’re in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 (24/7), or 000 if life is in danger.
Who You’ll See
Sessions are with Adam Dear, a PACFA-registered counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist who has worked in mental health since 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Counselling, a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Certificate in Conversational Hypnotherapy, is trained in Gottman Method couples therapy, and uses EMDR-informed techniques. More about Adam.
Online or In Person
Bloom Hypnotherapy & Counselling is based in Yarrabilba, near Logan, so if you’re local you can mix online and in-person sessions. Everyone else in Australia can have every session online.
