Trauma, anxiety and counselling for Beenleigh

Most people from Beenleigh and the surrounding suburbs come to Bloom because something from the past, or something happening now, is affecting how they feel day to day. Trauma and anxiety are the main focus of Adam’s work, using counselling, clinical hypnotherapy and EMDR-informed techniques, on their own or combined.

Trauma and PTSD

Whether it’s a single event like an accident or a sudden loss, or something that went on for a long time, trauma can leave you feeling on edge, numb, or stuck in memories. You don’t need to tell every detail of what happened for therapy to help, and you go at a pace that feels safe. Trauma and PTSD counselling.

Anxiety and stress

Anxiety and trauma very often go together, even when people don’t realise they’re connected. Sessions look at how anxiety shows up in your body, what sets it off, and what’s underneath it, as well as giving you practical ways to settle your nervous system. Counselling

A confidential space to talk things through, drawing on approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused and narrative therapy. People come for grief and loss, low mood, stress, relationships, men’s issues, or simply feeling stuck. Counselling at Bloom · Depression counselling · Grief counselling.

Who you’ll see

Adam Dear, counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist at Bloom Hypnotherapy & Counselling

Adam Dear is a PACFA-registered counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist who has worked in mental health since 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Counselling, a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Certificate in Conversational Hypnotherapy, uses EMDR-informed techniques, and is trained in Gottman Method couples therapy. Because he works across counselling and hypnotherapy, sessions are shaped around you rather than one fixed method. More about Adam.

What your first session looks like

All sessions are 60 minutes. Before your first appointment, you’ll be emailed a short intake form. On the day, we start with confidentiality, briefly talk about what you’d like to get out of therapy, and from there you guide the session. You don’t need to share everything, or have the right words. Read more about what a first session is like.
